How Do I Get There?
There are multiple ways to enter the Wellness Center, the primary and most recommended being by scanning QR codes around campus that lead you to the application to be called in for the Wellness Center. You may also scroll down to near the bottom of the Eisenhower webpage, where it has a decal of the Wellness Center with a link that leads you to the application. You may also be referred by your teacher or counselor, or occasionally called in for a checkup.
What Are Peer Counselors?
Peer counselors are a group of trained juniors and seniors who take the Wellness Center on as an elective. They are usually students who have previous experience in psychology and other related classes. They are there to support you, talk to you about any of your troubles, guide you to seek out your own solutions, and teach you healthy coping skills, all while making you feel listened to. All the conversations you have with peer counselors are completely confidential, meaning they will stay between you and them no matter what. They also tend to the Wellness Center and keep the mood positive and calm by setting up humidifiers and playing soothing music.
Who Runs The Wellness Center?
The Wellness Center is run by the wellness counselor, Ms. Gutierrez. It is still a surprise for some to learn that Mr. Hampton is no longer the wellness counselor. Ms. Gutierrez is available for everyone to talk to when they need to speak to an adult, and she also tends to the Wellness Center alongside the peer counselors and manages checkups. All in all, the Wellness Center is a great space for you to unwind, take a rest, and maybe even gain some clarity about the things that might be bothering you. Make sure you check up on your friends and let them know the Wellness Center is open.
