By Delilah Robles

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift gave the music industry and her fans her tenth studio album ‘Midnights’ on October 21st, 2022. During the 2022 VMAs, when accepting her award for video of the year she announced the title and release date and everything started unfolding.

To secret codes in tweets and hidden messages in speeches, she had started releasing information throughout the month of October. The highlights for the fans were her TikTok series ‘Midnight Mayhem with Me’, fans waited every other day at 12am (Eastern time) to discover the track names for the album. While she was releasing her TikToks, fans ran to her merch website for the release of various vinyls and CDs, even having the vinyls make a clock when putting them together. Taylor Swift’s marketing strategies are one of the main things that make her such a successful and great artist, everything Taylor does has a reason and makes the fans want more. When the clock strikes 12 am on October 21st fans opened up Spotify and Apple Music to listen to the released album. This album is very uniquely different from her other latest releases ‘Folklore’ (2022) and ‘Evermore’ (2022). After 24 hours she held the world record for most streams for an album release beating Ariana Grande’s record for ‘Thank you next’. Now that the album has been released, it leaves everyone wondering, what will happen next after this huge release? Maybe a re-record? We’ll just have to wait and see.
