On October 18, 2021 Marvel Fans were given numerous dates on the new superhero movies that would be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of these movies was Thor: Love and Thunder.
This movie has been long awaited because it has been predicted that it will be a movie where one of the original six Avengers will pass down their role of being a superhero to another worthy citizen or being with the necessary capabilities. And by the looks of it, this teaser reveals pretty much that.
In the first 40 seconds of the 1 minute and 30 second trailer, Thor is saying how he wants to find himself. He says that his superhero days are over. In Avengers: Endgame we see that Thor has sort of let himself go. He has gained weight, drinks, and fights with online players through video games. Then Rocket the Raccoon tries to persuade Thor to come fight in the huge battle against Thanos. Thor basically goes from throwing his whole Norse Mythologist God reputation away to fighting in a battle against someone who is the reason why the majority of the people he was supposed to rule under are dead. That is a lot even for a Norse God to go through. However Thor is not doing this alone. He is accompanied by none other than the Guardians of the Galaxy. From the looks of the teaser, Peter Quill helps Thor find himself through the people he loves. While that is being said we see Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok and the “New Asgard” that Valkyrie is in charge of ruling now after Thor left to fight Thanos.
After all of that self-discovery talk we see Thor’s original hammer Mjolnir being yielded by who you think at first is Thor but is actually someone who seems to be a more feminine version of Thor. Not Chris Hemworth with longer blonde hair but this person is theorized to be Jane Foster. Jane Foster from the first two Thor movies, Thor and Thor: The Dark World played a love interest to Thor but who was also an incredible genius at astronomy and cosmology. This is theorized because Jane becomes able to yield Mjolnir in the comics and becomes Thor. Natalie Portman who plays Jane is returning to the Thor franchise as she is part of the cast list.
Overall, this movie has been long awaited and fans cannot wait to see if Jane Foster is the new Thor. Be ready because this movie should be in theaters on July 8, 2022, two months and a day after Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. And remember like Thor yielding his hammer after thinking he couldn’t, you are worthy.
