Who the Duck is Doing This?

By Ray Martinez

After reading the article we had published earlier in the Golden Gazette, people might be asking just who exactly is the person hiding all of these ducks around campus. If you didn’t know, there have been miniscule figurine ducks hidden and crammed in places around campus; I have even found a couple myself. After researching this conundrum for a few weeks, I eventually found out who has been behind the duck placements! As exciting as it was for me, the culprit would like to remain anonymous when discussed in this article.

When asked about the overall locations where the ducks could be found, the culprit responded with “Around classes, and some hidden spots that people make out in, inside classes too, but mostly around the entire school.” However, most ducks were reported to be found inside of the theater room. “It’s easy to hide the ducks there because it’s kinda hard to see them,” they explained to me. When inspected, you can see how there are numbers on the bottom of the majority of ducks placed, going up past the 600s! Meaning, there are around 700 ducks around school, or even more! When looking around campus during my free time, I found two ducks squished between pipes, a duck sitting on the ticket booth counter by the football field, two were found on shelves in a science classroom, and there was even a duck by the plant in the front office! Something I also noticed was how many of the same ducks you can buy online, for very large quantities. Many people who have found these colorful birds around school have started collecting them. “It’s just funny hearing how people are finding them. Most of them are easy to find and some are pretty hard to see in the first place,” the culprit stated.

If anything, this funny little “scavenger hunt” has done nothing but slap a couple smiles on a handful of people’s faces, no harm done! Who knows, maybe you’ll stumble upon a duck or two some time later. This might also be something nice to look forward to throughout your everyday life; go to school, find a duck maybe two, and go home with a new friend.
