What is rock and roll? Rock and roll is a genre of music that started in the 50s and became well-known around the world thanks to the band Bill Haley and The Comets who sang the first #1 rock single called “Rock Around the Clock”. Rock and Roll is characterized by upbeat and simple melodies, most Rock and Roll bands contain the instruments bass, drums, and guitar. The extraordinary genre originated in the United States and eventually made its way all over the world, inspiring many people from other regions to make their own bands and stimulate the genre to fit many different cultures and languages. As time flew by, in the 80s more rock bands emerged such as: Queen, Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden, and Kiss. All these bands became extremely popular and sold around 45 million records worldwide. Although some Rock and Roll icons are no longer alive, they are still remembered for their amazing music. The rock bands I personally recommend are The Beatles and The Smashing Pumpkins. The songs they produce have both serene melodies and upbeat rhythms. .
