“A Night to Remember”

By Arlynn Del Cid

On February 26th I was able to be a part of a beautiful night “A night to Remember.” This night was made for all of the special needs people in our community to feel special and for them to have their own distinguished prom. The event was hosted by Sunrise church, a church that no doubt has a lot of love to give to its community.

To start off the night there was a grand red carpet for these incredible people to walk through with music playing in the background alongside tehri buddy to guide them through the night. Music that truly made you feel special and filled with self-love. Metallic pom poms with the Sunrise church family hyping and cheering these incredible people on.The wonderful part about their red carpet walk was seeing all their happy faces filled with joy and excitement. Faces of which I will never forget.

Inside of the event there were many activities to make the night even more special. Some of these activities included a photo booth, giant size tic-tac-toe, connect 4, bean bag toss alongside the dance floor, which had many dancing around enjoying every second of the night. You also can’t forget the amazing food and snacks that are available like donuts and cupcakes just to name a few. As well as a quiet room for if you need a break from all the parting or a quiet place to be filled with coloring books, kinetic sand, sensory

toys, and a TV projecting what was happening on the dance floor.

As the night was coming close to an end the prom King and Queen were to be announced. With that came a quick speech expressing how we are all perfect the way we are projecting on the screen proverb Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) that says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This night everyone was crowned King and Queen because that is the truth we are all Kings and Queen in our own way.

The event came to an end but without a doubt it was a night I will truly never forget especially all those happy smiles filled with excitement. I would have not been able to witness any of this without Pastor David and Mr. Cecar from Sunrise church. Thank you!!
