Goodbye. It’s one word but it represents that culmination of 4 years of school together. Standing a few weeks away from my graduation and my own goodbyes, I figured it was time to give one goodbye early. Goodbye, Ike’s Golden Gazette. We’ve known each other for four years. In that time you taught me what it means to be a part of not just a group, but to serve a purpose. We first met when I was just a freshman in high school, in a time of such darkness and isolation the golden gazette provided me with a community. We were small, but mighty, guided by two of the most incredible advisors and human beings I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. My sophomore year, the community grew as we took on new members. Every single stage of high school I have always had one constant, Ike’s Golden Gazette.
From the articles I wrote, to editing other people’s articles, I am so glad that I got the honor of serving as the Chief Editor, President, and Vice President for Ike’s Golden Gazette. Serving this newspaper and the students of Eisenhower High School has taught me to take up responsibility with courage, and most importantly it has taught me to value my impact. It gave me a voice when I was a freshman who thought I could not have an impact. As high school comes to an end, I want to say one last goodbye to the program that became my safe space for so long. Ike’s Golden Gazette, goodbye. I am officially signing off as your Chief Editor.
