Friday Night Lights: Eisenhower Football Game 9/2

By: De’Kree Antone

Congratulations to our Eisenhower football team on yet another win this season! On Friday, September 2 of 2022 Eisenhower held their first home game of the season against Palm Springs finishing the game 27-21. There was a great turn out for the home side with freshmen, alumni, and family filling the stands to come and support. On the field there were various emotions between coaches and players. In the first quarter there was a slow start with the score at 0-0 until number 21, Jacoby Portier took the game. Portier almost every quarter made a touchdown with his agility and speed which made the game worthwhile and enthused the audience.

Though you can say number 21 was the star of this game it wouldn’t have been possible for him to get through it if it wasn’t for the players creating great defense. Ike’s football team is resilient and will always bounce back. Eisenhower and Palm Springs tied going into overtime, these boys did not give Palm springs any openings during that overtime until again Jacoby Portier pushed the last bit of strength he had to the end zone making Eisenhower still undefeated. Before, during, and after you could see the brotherhood and support they give each other. Each and every player worked hard to reach this point of victory and this should be a time to be celebrated. Keep working hard Eagles and push past your limits because you already proved that you can do it. Speaking for all of Eisenhower High school, keep it up for the rest of the season Eagles we know you can do it!
