Social Media and Networking at Eisenhower

In the 21st century, we use social media as a part of our life. But what type of social media apps do students at school use? We have all the data and opinions about social media from students all around Eisenhower High School.

We asked for student’s opinions based on these social media apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Tiktok and Facebook. The apps were then ranked were from the most used to the least used. These apps are ranked based on how they are used this year in 2021.

1. Tiktok

Tiktok is the most used social media app in the world due to diverse content, life hacks, and challenges. Another fact is that the algorithm is never ending when you are on Tiktok because you are sometimes scrolling on the app. There are also opinions on Tiktok about drama and toxicity in the app like every other platform.

2. Instagram

Instagram is the second most used app in our list according to students. The content is more searchable on Instagram when you type in a username on the search area. Things are also more private and more helpful within this application such as private accounts, stories, removing followers, activity status, blocking comments, and stopping direct messages and requests.

3. Snapchat

Snapchat is the 3rd most used social media platform due to avatars, filters, video calls, snap map, and and memories which is a feature that when a user uses filters to create a story snapchat converts it into a memory. Some of its features are almost similar to Instagram such as their private stories and direct messages.

4. Twitter

Twitter is the 4th used app used by some students since the platform was established 15 years ago, in 2006. There were also common opinions by students saying that there is drama on the platform regarding politics, racism, and corruption are shown more, including more about news.

5. Facebook

Next to Twitter, Facebook is 5th used mostly due to the fact that Twitter and Facebook are mostly used by the older generation and that Facebook is from 2004. It is also said that some students use Facebook to connect with family members and people outside the US.

Social media is now a main part of our lives and for sharing content, contacting people, and creating videos from more used to less used.
