A Night on the Red Carpet

By De'Kree Antone

Lights. Camera. Action. These were all the components that made our 2023 homecoming a show-stopper that was full of glam and poise.

Lights: The decorations were brilliantly luxurious . The whole staging was precise to the theme of Hollywood, simulating a walk onto the Red Carpet for a big debut. ASB did a great job putting little details of anything that signified Hollywood everywhere you turned; by bringing out celebrities from the dead such as Marilynn Monroe and Elvis as your eyes focused on the DJ's domain.

Camera: From the red carpet to the VIP lounge to the professional photo booth, it was irresistible not to stop and take a pose for the viewers at home. There was no time when people didn’t have their phones out for a photo op. People paid money to have a tangible memory of that night with the professional photographer, they were recording their friends and themselves dancing and were even admiring themselves in the bathroom by taking pictures with the mirror. The best shot was the announcements of our 2023 Homecoming Duke, Duchess, Prince, and Princess. Congratulations to Mekhi Aubry, Gia Vergara, Loryn Parker, and Christian Ruiz.

Action: Since so many people were taking pictures it took a bit long to warm up the crowd enough to get on the dance floor, but once everyone was at their peak of thrill it never came back down. The DJ trusted the taste of our eagle's music, which made everyone feel inclined to get up and dance. All throughout the night, requested songs were played thanks to the DJ’s impeccable skills, there was always something to do. When done with dancing, people were eating some delicious tacos or purchasing some buttery movie popcorn. Once they had finished, people had the choice of going back onto the dance floor or staying behind to talk with friends.

Overall, Homecoming was a beautiful performance of cinematic joy and captivating entertainment.
