Most everyone's mad here.

Photos and Story by De' Kree Antone

Eisenhower Eagles truly went “Mad” last Saturday night with our annual homecoming of 2022. Despite our loss on the Football field against Grand Terrace that Friday night, students won that Saturday night by helping to make the whole experience vibrant and lively. This year's homecoming was bigger than ever by holding it in the quad compared to the last 3 years due to covid regulations. To compare there was on average 350 students who attended last year and this year there were almost 400 or so students (not including ASB who were there to set up and take down the event) that were able to go and have their first or last homecoming experience. Not only was it big in numbers but it was big in personality from the people to the decorations. Having said this the hype from everyone did not die out, especially once Ms. Stevenson announced the rest of 2022 Homecoming court. The crowd was shouting for joy for the following candidates:

Royalty: Mekhi Aubry and Jhene Vega

Dutch: Miguel Guerrero

Dutchess: Daniella Herandez

Prince: Alfredo Perez-Perez

Princess: Emily Felix

The decorations were playful and vibrant and it seemed as if you were at a Mad Hatter’s tea party if it were to come to life. Once walking into the quad it was as though you went through the rabbit hole to a new abnormal world of childhood fantasy. Homecoming had great company and delicious street Tacos that came with rice and beans (which was part of the ticket) that filled you up to go back on the dance floor. If you wanted more than what was provided you had the choice to go to a snack bar and get whatever your heart desired from chips to soda for a dollar or so. The DJ brought a great variety of music choices from oldies to hip-hop to Spanish music which brought you to the dance floor at least once throughout the night. If you didn’t want to dance that was okay too; ASB provided games such as Jenga and Connect Four so you were not just sitting out on a night you couldn’t forget. To capture these moments ASB hired a professional photographer to come out and take wonderful pictures of you in wonderland and if you didn’t have the money for such things you were able to create your own memories with similar backdrops around the quad if that was all you planned to do. This year's homecoming will make people wonder if next year could land on Hatter's tea party list. Time is only ticking to see what awaits us all next year!
