Eisenhower Was Ready For Some Football

Updated: Aug 30, 2021

It’s finally here! After a year and a half of being offseason, football is officially back into motion at Eisenhower Highschool. Last Thursday, August 26th, was our first home game of the season and while we would have loved a packed stadium, due to Covid protocols the crowd was kept small to keep everyone safe. Even with the restrictions there was a great turn out of people that came out to support our Eagles. All the players had a lot of heart and determination to play. The people that weren’t on the field were itching to play, but also were cheering on their fellow teammates, which shows the family dynamic of our school. I was fortunate to interview a few of the players after the game and this is what they said, Jolele Brionez’s (jersey number 58) thoughts were “ Even though we lost, we stuck together as a team, and that's all that matters.” Rapi Avei, said “All the players are very disciplined and ready and the ones that aren’t playing are itching to play.” Students and alumni that were able to attend the game would have seen and felt the energy in those players. Even though we lost by one point our players are working hard and know what they need to improve on to make this season worth wild. Overall it was a good game with a lot of passion from both sides of the field and I can't wait to see our eagles full potential.
