October 29, 2021, Eisenhower students were waiting for the school day to end and the night to begin. Everyone was excited to get to the Homecoming game were Eisenhower would go up against Summit High School.
Our biggest competitors on Summit’s team were #73 and #98. Throughout the game they were the most challenging to get past.
During the first quarter our eagles scored a touchdown making the crowd go wild. Taking the lead of 6-0. In the second quarter Summit scores a touchdown, at this point we are losing by one point. Second quarter comes to an end leaving Summit in the lead 7-6.
During the halftime we had our parade including our EHS cheer team, our amazing band, Pacific Islanders Club, Black Student union club, Speech and debate and last but not least our theater.
During halftime our homecoming court was also announced. For royalty we had Lea Perez. Our junior princess... SHARIK GOMEZ. For junior prince drumroll please…… NATHAN DOMINGUEZ. For our king SANTOS, and last but most definitely not least our homecoming queen NATALY GUTIEREZ. Congratulations to our 2021 homecoming court winners.
And now back to the game. During the third quarter summit scores again, now taking the lead 13 - 6. Five minutes left in the third quarter we scored, taking us up by three points so now our score is 13 - 9 . the end of the third quarter arrives. Into our fourth quarter tension is high. We need to make a touchdown in order to get a higher score than summit.
A touchdown is scored by the eagles, but is not counted. This puts more pressure on the eagles to make some sort of score.
7 minutes and 50 seconds left on the clock summit has the ball, number 15 passes the ball to number 18, number 18 fumbles the ball, the ball is on the loose, everyone racing to the ball Eisenhower gets ahold of the ball. Head towards the end zone #2 on our team has the ball in hand running, getting closer to a touchdown. Tackled he drops the ball and loses the yards that had been gained. Six seconds left in the game but there was nothing left to do. Bringing the game to an end with the final score of 13 - 9. Unfortunately we lost.
Despite our loss we are still in for CIFs. Round 1 of playoffs is tonight so be sure not to miss it.
