Origin of the Virus
Monkeypox is a disease caused by the Monkeypox virus (orthopoxvirus MP) The Monkeypox virus gets its name because it was initially detected in monkeys in 1958 when pox-like disease occurred in lab monkeys in a small colony in Denmark, however, the first human case was reported in Congo, Africa in 1970.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of the Monkeypox virus are fevers, headache, muscle aches, and particularly rashes that turn into pustules. The only way to be infected with the virus is through direct contact, body fluids with either infected victims or animals, contaminated materials and sources also put your health at risk. If you do feel any of the listed symptoms after 5-21 days of exposure to the virus, isolate yourself to prevent the likelihood of the spread of Monkeypox and contact a healthcare provider.
How to Prevent
Most people think that there is no way to prevent the Monkeypox virus but that is not true. The primary way to reduce your chances of being the next victim is by simply practicing good hygiene or by being vaccinated by the JENNERS which is also a highly effective way to keep safe.
