Senior Football Spotlight: Omar Sanchez #75

By De'Kree Antone

After transferring from three schools, # 75 Omar Sanchez found his way to the eagles nest. Omar had a smooth transition into Eisenhower’s football team and hasn’t regretted picking IKE as his school to graduate from. Even though he didn’t get to play his favorite position,(which is left guard) Omar helped bring Eisenhower's victories as an offensive lineman.

Having been in the environment for about a decade now, making bonds with the boys was seamless to say the least. Omar was able to experience going up to Oregon to play with the team over the summer opening the chance for comradery that is needed to be a team. Even though the football season is over, sports is not over with this athlete. Omar’s heart reaches for two fields, the yard line and the diamond. Our very own Omar Sanchez can’t only tackle but he can get a home run if needs be. Thanks to his biggest support, his long term coach, and his guide, Omar's father for signing his 7-year-old up for football and baseball. Though his mom has her concerns Omar couldn’t see how his life without these sports.

A question that was brought up was why he liked those sports so much and this was his response, “I grew up playing it so it's just a part of me really... I just think that it is a fun sport so that's why I play it.” Before this senior leaves to further his education by starting at a community college to then later transfer to a university, he 100% recommends anyone that is remotely interested in joining the sport to join, he says that it is fun and helps you get in shape. Despite all the fun that Omar has on the field Eisenhower will forever be grateful for the persistence and resilience you have on and off the field Omar. Continue to tackle life with the same fun and light-hearted energy you bring to your teammates. Soar high Omar.
